Dedon Island in Siargao

To be found on the south-eastern coast of Siargao, just along the region of the Philippine Deep and the renowned surfing spot of Cloud 9, Dedon Island lies amidst the prehistoric tropical forests and the picturesque, clear blue waters, and is well loved for its unique architectural design, biodiversity and extraordinary journey it offers its visitors.

  1. This is where the filthy rich pinoys, the “one percenters” , play while the rest of the country live in squalor. A classic display of ancient Roman elitism and upper class culture callousness. It may not happen in this lifetime of mine, but one day, this nation will wake up and rise up against the social elite and corrupt politicians. 250 years of “siesta”, 50 years of “Hollywood” and 2 years of “sushi” didn’t wake up the population with all that suffering. I wonder when will we wake up as a nation.

    • Stop whining and ranting on how poor filipinos can’t afford these resorts. This post was not to brag about how “one percenters” can afford this! Just because the less fortunate can’t afford these, doesn’t mean that those who can can’t enjoy it. A classic display of crab mentality where if one suffers all must too, don’t you think?

    • ^^Apo Mabini is an idiot. ^^ Don’t ever be that guy lol what a clown. I have “played” at 3 of those locations and I plan on going to a fourth next month. I’m not a filthy rich one percenter. I’ve been working since I was 14 and I never even finished high school.

Good list, though I will disagree with Misibis bay. I’ve seen some trashy sex tourists there with underage girls and the beach bar felt like something you would see at Puerto Galera.

  2. I would like to see one of this plac some day, I been in peurto galira it was ok .my next vacation. is one if this place very soo…

  3. Weew! Wishing one day I can visit any of these expensive resorts. I am fascinated with Balesin Island I first heard about this resort when it was used as the venue of the wedding of Heart Evangelista and Chiz Escudero but omg! the membership alone is a wild dream hehe!

  4. You missed the stunning island of Pangulasian in El Nido, Palawan…..lovely and superb!!

  5. Infinity resort should be included, Lalaguna Villas and Out of the Blue cant be compared to it, ita a league of its own in Mindoro.

  6. Truly these resorts are for the high end market. I have luckily contracted to work for three months in Dedon Island when it used to be Pansukian Resort before it was sold to the new owners thus named Dedon Island. I’ve seen the type of guests the resort is targeted too. It’s pricey and not for middle income earners. It is pricey for a reason. However, the rest of the Siargao island is yours to explore for cheaper price, so the answer is stay in cheaper accommodation that is within your budget.

  7. Be careful! You can’t put Plantation Bay and Antulang on this list alongside Amanpulo, Shangri-la and the El Nido resorts. Plantation bay may be pricey but it is nowhere near luxurious. The place has a Disney feel with fake volcanoes in pools and outdated rooms. Crowd not too cool either, not private enough. And Antulang! What a joke! Have you been there? Slimey old pool. Plastic monoblock chairs at a so-so restaurant! . Decor has no rhyme or reason. No beach to speak of, just a cliff above the ocean. And service? Forget it. The people are nice — but this is NOT a luxury resort, when service staff has no 5-star training. Please, please be responsible do your research before posting this stuff! You can mislead people and make them waste their money on false claims to “luxury”.

  8. Lalaguna Villas is a much newer and nicer resort in Puerto Galera than Out of the Blue. It’s a fact.

  9. Sollte mal kontrolliert werden wie es wirklich ausschaut – ich sag nur Photo Adobe da laesst sich viel machen!!!

  10. For those Filipinos who cannot afford to have a honeymoon in these resorts , my advise is run to get elected as the town mayor , governor , congressman , etc. If you when , then follow what these politicians are doing….then of course you can afford to see and go to these places in a short period of time.

  11. These are luxury resorts. They aren’t for everyone. Kung di nyo afford, no need to be sad and bitter. Marami pang ibang beaches sa Pilipinas na magaganda at abot kaya ng budget nyo.

  12. Wow nice. Included Dumaguete on the List. Great!!

  13. makaka-afford lang nito na Pilipino is yung mga taong nagnanakaw sa kaban ng bayan. kawawang Juan!

  14. How come Bellarocca is not included?

    • Bellarocca isn’t in the same league as the resorts listed. It’s showing signs of aging and they’re only less than a decade old. The staff isn’t exactly up to par with international standards either. Beach is rocky, almost unswimmable. We filipinos may assume because of the price tag that it’s a luxury 5 diamond resort, but they were just so-so in my opinion.

They DO however have a really awesome brochure and great marketing, best I’ve seen. 🙂

  15. Philippines at its best..sadly only foreigners can easily afford.most likely owned by foreigners even

  16. Try Dive Solana resort and other luxury resorts in Anilao Batangas, its near and better.

  17. If you’re going to visit Davao, better go to Pearl Farm Resort Davao. It’s very affordable.

  18. I have a travel and tours business and I can give you a good deal for Misibis Bay. I just eent there the other day. 🙂 please email me at

  19. The wife and I stayed at the Shangri-La in Boracay in the summer of 2013. We were on a late honeymoon so the resort offered us villa with it’s own pool, butler, and access to a private beach. The staff was the absolute best. Looking forward to going back again…

  20. ive never been to any of these, cant afford anyway im about to finish the 81 provinces of the Philippines, 17 more to go….

  21. time will come when these resorts will be reclaimed by ordinary people ans not just used the moneyed thieves and make believe people

  22. It’s very nice but sad to say only rich people can afford to go in these kind of beach resort. how about middle class and poor people that they can’t afford to pay this expensive place or beach resort?

  23. Amanpulo is dream and to do list for me next year! This is a great list, thanks.

  24. I think Balesin should also be on this list.

  25. Wow nice list!Yes indeed, camayn beach resort is a paradise 🙂 check my review on Camayan Beach Resort in Subic Bay Philippines thanks

  26. that’s why these are called luxury resorts not cheap budget hotels. you’ve got to pay more for something special. lets face it, its not for everyone. if you are poor, strive hard to be rich. no need to be bitter.

  27. PalwanResortOwner

Of course, these resorts are expensive. Didn’t it say “luxury”? These are targeted at the high-end of the market. Most of these places charge in US Dollars.

  28. It’s very nice beaches in the Philippines but its too much expensive . There’s a lot of nice beaches in other part of the world that cost less. It so sad that only rich, VIP people can afford. .hehee

  29. You missed out on a couple of resorts:

    1. Pangulasian Island Resort – The most expensive resort owned by the El Nido group.

    2. Two Seasons Coron Palawan

    4. Ariara Island Palawan

    5. Noa Noa Island Palawan

    6. Huma Island Resort and Spa

    7. Dedon Island Mindanao

    8. Malcapuya Island Resort – the newest and most luxurious resort owned by the Henann group

Lots to update on your list.

  30. We were at Miniloc Island Resort last month and we find the place so beautiful as well as its Staff. They have superb food and services. It’s worth the prize and we are planning to come back before the yearend.

  31. for those poor Filipino who wants to experience honeymoon after the wedding lol…can’t afford to pay for the very expensive rate of those hotels…and resort their only doing it for business to become more rich…oh oh so sad

  32. only rich people can afford to go in these kind of place…but for those poor filipino can’t even experience to see these in reality

  33. all the time i used to read smaller content which
