While Philippines is well-known for its beautiful beaches, there are also several pristine lakes to explore in the country which can truly capture your interest.

1. Kayangan Lake in Coron, Palawan

One of the dubbed main attractions in Coron, Palawan is the Kayangan Lake. Kayangan Lake is a remarkable splendour that is encompassed by gigantic limestone and verdant greens. The lake is recognized as the cleanest in the country and is comprised of a blend of 70% freshwater and 30% salt water.

2. Pinatubo Crater Lake located near the boundaries of Pampanga, Tarlac and Zambales

Pinatubo’s Crater Lake is deemed as one of Luzon’s most sought-after tourist spots and was formed after Mt. Pinatubo’s eruption last June 1991. The lake is situated close to the borders of Tarlac, Pampanga and Zambales Province and is recognized as the deepest lake in the country. As of now, the water  of the lake is declared as not fit for swimming and thus is intended for viewing and picture-taking purposes only.

3. Taal Volcano Crater Lake

The awe-inspiring vista of Taal Lake, is hailed as one of the famous day-tripper destinations in Luzon.  The lake partly fills up the taal crater which was created from ancient strong eruptions. At present, the lake can be witnessed from the popular Tagaytay Ridge.

4. Lake Holon in T’boli, South Cotabato

Fall in love with the beyond-beautiful, breathtaking scenery of Lake Holon, the holistic journey that comes along the trek towards it and the untainted hospitality of the T’boli people. Lake Holon is located in Tboli, South Cotabato and can be reached thru a 4-5 hours trek from the municipality of Salacafe.

 

5. Lake Baraccuda in Coron, Palawan

Lake Baraccuda is considered as Coron, Palawan’s premiere sightseer attractions owing to its extraordinary layers of salt and fresh water which can only be reached thru a short but challenging trek over rough, sharp rocky walls that leads directly towards the water.

6. Lake Sebu, South Cotabato

Another recognized treasure in South Cotabato is Lake Sebu. Lake Sebu is a naturally-formed lake to be found in the municipality of Lake Sebu, dotted within the region of Alah Valley.

7. Siit Lake, Sulu

Undeniably, one of the most-watched-out lakes in the Southern region of the Philippines is Siit Lake of Sulu. The lake is adored for its natural, heart-shaped lake which is likened to that of Aphrodite, the Greek Goddess of Love and Beauty.

8.Lake Balinsasayao  in Sibulan, Negros Oriental

The twin lakes of Balinsasayao are renowned for being home to many flora and fauna. It is famous for its two small crater lakes, positioned 12km west of Sibulan in Negros Oriental. Activities to be enjoyed along the lake include, boating, fishing, swimming and kayaking.

9. Bulusan Lake in Sorsogon

Lying at the foot of the active Bulusan Volcano in Sorsogon, Bulusan lake allows its tourists to be in awe with nature’s ordinary yet peaceful and equally beautiful creation. Bulusan Lake’s backdrop is rich in green pastures and amazing wildlife and can be accessed thru the Maharlika Highway, passing thru the Casiguran and Juban towns.

10. Bababu Lake in  Dinagat Islands

Bask in the largest considered marine lakes in Basilisa Town of Dinagat Islands, Surigao. Bababu Lake is regarded as an out of the ordinary body of water in Basilisa Town since it’s mainly made up of seawater but with a twenty foot surface layer of rainwater. The layers of different waters are prevented from blending due to the immensely-high limestone walls.

11. Lake Carolina, Baganga, Davao Oriental

Davao Oriental boasts of its precious lake jewel situated in the coastal town of Baganga. Lake Carolina is tucked in the rich green landscapes of Panghugan in Baranggay Salingcomot. It can be easily reached thru a 15-minute ride from the heart of the town. Actually, motorcycles can even enter openly to the lake’s surroundings while cars can park at the entrance.

12. Lake Padin in San Pablo City, Laguna

Lake Pandin and Yambo are twin lakes separated by a thin strip of terrain and are among the Seven Lakes System in San Pablo, Laguna. But among the seven lakes, Lake Pandin is highly-praised for being the most pure and clear.

13. Lake Apo in Valencia, Bukidnon

Positioned in Valencia, Bukidnon is Lake Apo, a lake that Bukidnon truly takes pride of. Lake Apo is a crater lake located in Barangay Guinoyoran of Valencia and is honoured as the cleanest lake in Northern Mindanao.

14. Lake Danao in Ormoc, Letye

Lake Danao is a guitar-shaped lake on the atoll of Leyte, Philippines.  The Lake is encompassing a region of 148 hectares and is situated 18 kilometres northeast of Ormoc City and can be reached thru a 30-minute drive from San Pablo.

    Pinatubo Lake is really one of the amazing Lakes in the Philippines! ^_^
    But the most visited one is really the Kayangan Lake and its neighbor Barracuda Lake in Coron. ^_^
