This is good news to all travel buffs! The International terminal fee is now cut-off to 550php from its original rate of 750php. This is according to the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) which is in-charge of the increase of the international airport terminal fee last 2007.
The increase was implemented in order to collect 1.2 billion that will be used to acquire items for security purposes. “These items include surveillance cameras, x-ray machines, body scanners, shoe detector machines, explosive detection system” said MIAA General Manager Jose Angel Honrado. The collection of fee was intended for 5 years.
The 5 year term will expire this coming January 31 2012 thus the terminal fee will be rolled back to its original rate. However, Honrado clarified that this cut-off will not affect domestic flights’ terminal fee. The charge in the domestic section will remain the same which is 200php since the terminal fee for the domestic section was not affected by the increase last 2007.
