Hannah Beach Resort, once a jewel in the scenic landscape of Pagudpud, Ilocos Region, stood proudly as a prominent destination adorned with 300 rooms. Its allure drew visitors seeking a perfect blend of nature’s beauty and luxurious accommodations. However, the resort faced a tumultuous period marked by a series of challenges that ultimately cast a shadow over its illustrious history.

The turning point came in April 2018 when the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) issued a stern directive mandating the demolition of illegal structures within Pagudpud’s resorts. This included the dismantling of cottages and other buildings. Among the resorts implicated was Hannah’s Beach Resort and Convention Center, owned by the esteemed retired Airforce Col. Ricardo Nolasco, Jr., identified as one of the violators.

Tragically, in July 2018, the visionary behind Pagudpud town’s transformation, Col. Ricardo Nolasco, Jr., passed away. His legacy extended beyond military service, as he played a pivotal role in establishing Hannah’s Beach Resort, turning it into a symbol of excellence and a driving force behind the town’s evolution into a premier destination.

Despite Nolasco’s vision, the challenges persisted. In April 2019, a significant announcement emerged from the resort’s official Facebook page, signaling a change in management. However, a peculiar silence descended upon the digital realm as the last update, dated March 11, 2020, coincided with the onset of the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic. The global tourism industry, once vibrant and bustling, came to an abrupt standstill, leaving destinations like Hannah Beach Resort in the throes of uncertainty.

Now, where once stood a thriving symbol of leisure and opulence, the resort lies in ruins, echoing the broader challenges faced by the world during the pandemic. The poignant question remains unanswered – will Hannah Beach Resort, with its rich history and dreams of rejuvenation, ever rise again? As of now, there is no discernible information on whether the doors of this once-prominent establishment will reopen, leaving the fate of the resort and the void it has left in the local economy shrouded in uncertainty. Presently, the resort remains frozen in time, its doors closed and its future unknown.
