Bangaan Family Inn is in a choice location along the train from Banaue to Mayoyao overlooking the rice terraces of Bangaan. It is from here that you can go on foot to visit the famous rice terraces of Batad. If you wish to continue along this road (very bad during the rainy season) to the rice terraces of Mayoyao another 30 km away, it is necessary to make a stopover here.

The site of this little inn is fantastic, with a superb view on the little village of Bangaan with its red-painted rooftops, tucked away in the middle of the green rice terraces. It is the only place, moreover, where you can have the opportunity to sleep in an Ifugao hut! It is for all these reasons that a stay of at least one night is recommended here, even though the inn only offers simple comfort.

The inn is in fact spread out on different parts of the trail. Above the trail is the restaurant as well as an adjoining building surrounded by flowers that houses eight rooms. The restaurant, made of wood, is pleasant and largely open to the view. Below the trail, accessible by a rather steep flight of steps, are five huts in the Ifugao style. These huts are quite rustic; alongside each is a smaller hut which serves as a bathroom with only a huge drum filled with cold water! You may, however, request for hot water for a small fee.

The Ifugao huts are quite set apart, each with a terrace from where you can admire the spectacular view. The last hut is like a big wooden bungalow, more comfortable with a little drawing rooms, two double rooms with woven bamboo walls and a mini-tiled bathroom. The view from the large bay window over the abyss is breathtaking.

How to Get There

From Banaue, 1.5 hours by jeepney or 4WD vehicle. From Banaue town proper, take the road going to Mayoyao. After the turn-off to Batad, it is only 2 km before reaching Bangaan Family Inn.
