Cebu is the traveler’s fantasy of a tropical island come true – balmy weather, pristine beaches, crystalline waters, and luxurious resorts with all the frills of modern living.The island-province of Cebu was where the Portuguese navigator Ferdinand Magellan planted the Cross of Christianity in the name of Spain in 1521. But even before Cebu became the Occidental gateway to the Orient, it was already a popular entry point among Asian merchants. Cebu is characterized by narrow coastline, limestone plateaus, coastal plains with predominant rolling hills and rugged mountain ranges traversing the northern and southern lengths of the island.

Cebu’s weather is relatively moderate, having no distinct wet and dry season, the perfect vacation spot for all seasons. Cebu is blessed with tropical climate with generally fair temperature ranging from 23-33 degrees Celsius (73-91 degrees Fahrenheit). Coolest temperature is in January and warmest in May.

Only a few minutes away from the city are numerous white sand beaches, crystal blue waters, and swaying palms, making Cebu a perfect destination for both business and leisure. Mactan Island is a coral island and famous scuba diving and beach site. It is also the site of the Export Processing Zone. Malapascua Island is endowed with white sand beaches and crystal clear waters, and the west coast is ideal for swimming and snorkeling. The sleepy little market town of Moalboal was one of the first places where scuba diving caught on in the Philippines. From here, you can dive straight off Panagsama Beach, which is home to an extraordinary array of coral, anemones, sponges, and a swarming host of brightly colored reef fish.

Mactan Island lies a few kilometers to the southeast of Cebu Island in the Philippines. The island is part of Cebu Province and is divided into Lapu-Lapu City and the municipality of Cordova. The island is connected to Cebu by the Marcelo Fernan Bridge (Mactan II Bridge).

It is a coral island and famous scuba diving and beach site. It is also the site of the Export Processing Zone, which presently employs a 37,118-strong workforce. Mactan Island, located across Mandaue City, encompasses a total land area of 150 hectares. This tropical-island getaway endowed with a variety of colors – from its beach, hotels, resorts, nightlife, music, food, drinks – will guarantee to spice up every tourist.

Mactan Island has numerous world class white sand resorts. Mactan ia a coral island which lies just off the coast of Cebu. Many locals from Cebu go here in Mactan to take a dip to it’s clear blue crystal waters. Mactan is also jump-off point to island hoppings in the Visayas Region. Mactan Island has plenty of tourist facilites and has a well developed diving infrastructure. It offers the best diving sites to the sea adventurers.

Diving sites in Mactan area offers magnificent variety of marine life. The dive sites are group into 3 sections the Olango Island, Tambuli and Marigondon Reef.

Drive to Maribago or Marigondon or Carcar (whichever is more convenient) and take the motorized banca to cruise from mainland Cebu to Mactan island. Fantastic beaches beckon for lunch and superb watersport.

BY PLANE: There are three airlines flying to Cebu daily
– Air Philippines, Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines.

BY FERRY: There are regular ferries to Cebu pier from almost all the islands of the Philippines.
