Montebello Villa Hotel, Banilad, Cebu

Montebello Villa Hotel, Banilad, Cebu

Montebello Villa Hotel is 20 minutes away from the city center, in what was once a hacienda, now a vast landscaped garden of five hectares. Through the city has big and very comfortable hotels, this is the only one possessing any real charm. This is largely due to the surrounding vegetation and the peaceful, family atmosphere despite its 145 rooms.

The hotel is quite pleasant with its low, white Spanish-style buildings, the red tile roofs and the arcades at the entrance. The wide, high-ceilinged reception area with its red brickwork is welcoming, with its curved archway and white rattan sofas.

Some of the rooms are located at the back of the reception area around a large outdoor patio that has access to the garden. The other rooms are in separate two-story building linked together around a swimming pool.

The rooms are furnished with functional furniture, fitted carpeting, and small tiled bathrooms. The standard rooms, though smaller and without a balcony, are pleasant. The three standard rooms located in a separate wing by the main pool are the best choice as there rooms have separate entrance halls.

The Poolside Restaurant, opening inti a second bigger swimming pool, is a nice place to hang around. The magnificent, old bougainvilleas with their knotted trunks cling to the building in a tight embrace and drape the roof with fuchsia flowers, which also creep up right under the arches — where the tables are arranged — all along the swimming pool. From here you can catch a glimpse of the garden and its well-maintained lawns shaded by beautiful trees. A bridge over the pond is the perfect backdrop for the many wedding ceremonies that are held at Montebello.

We stayed here for two nights last December for our field trip. And my group got to have the biggest room. At first, it was kind of frustrating because all of us were tired and longed for rest, but the hotel receptionist kept us from having our rooms. She said there are no rooms available (since we have a large group)… But we waited patiently. And there, they found a room for us. Our stay there was fine. The place is very quiet. And very accommodating. Will surely go back here.
