While Philippines is well-known for its beautiful beaches, there are also several pristine lakes to explore in the country which can truly capture your interest.

1. Kayangan Lake in Coron, Palawan

One of the dubbed main attractions in Coron, Palawan is the Kayangan Lake. Kayangan Lake is a remarkable splendour that is encompassed by gigantic limestone and verdant greens. The lake is recognized as the cleanest in the country and is comprised of a blend of 70% freshwater and 30% salt water.[divider]

Pinatubo’s Crater Lake is deemed as one of Luzon’s most sought-after tourist spots and was formed after Mt. Pinatubo’s eruption last June 1991. The lake is situated close to the borders of Tarlac, Pampanga and Zambales Province and is recognized as the deepest lake in the country. As of now, the water  of the lake is declared as not fit for swimming and thus is intended for viewing and picture-taking purposes only.[divider]

3. Taal Volcano Crater Lake

The awe-inspiring vista of Taal Lake, is hailed as one of the famous day-tripper destinations in Luzon.  The lake partly fills up the taal crater which was created from ancient strong eruptions. At present, the lake can be witnessed from the popular Tagaytay Ridge.[divider]

4. Lake Holon in T’boli, South Cotabato

Fall in love with the beyond-beautiful, breathtaking scenery of Lake Holon, the holistic journey that comes along the trek towards it and the untainted hospitability of the T’boli people. Lake Baraccuda is considered as Coron, Palawan’s premiere sightseer attractions owing to its extraordinary layers of salt and fresh water which can only be reached thru a short but challenging trek over rough, sharp rocky walls that leads directly towards the water.
