Considered one of the hottest destinations in the Philippines for travellers- El Nido, Palawan. It is known for its incredible natural beauty—with pristine beaches and a thriving system that caters to tourists looking for a taste of tropical paradise, you should definitely consider booking a flight here and seeing for yourself why the Philippines is often known as the Pearl of the Orient. There are so many things to see and do here, from dive stations to cave explorations, and with all the flight promos available nowadays, it would be a shame to miss out on this place, whether you’re a local backpacker or a foreigner coming to the country for the first time. Here are some great ideas for things to do while you’re there!
Island Hopping (Tour A, B, C)
No matter where you get your itinerary at El Nido, you can opt for island hopping packages. Tour A is centered around Miniloc Island and its lagoons, while Tour B is for those who want to explore Palawan’s caves. Tour C is full of hidden beaches—definitely something for everyone!

Swimming at White Sand Beaches
There are plenty of beaches with fine white sand in El Nido, so pick any one and laze in the sun. You can also go beach hopping in relative peace—the area doesn’t have the same crowding problem that Boracay does, so you can relax in solitude.
Selfie at Matinloc Shrine
Matinloc Shrine is located in the center of the island of Matinloc. It’s a mini museum that shows the history of the place and is near a hidden beach. Marvel at the simple but eerie architecture which can really evoke a sense of spiritual awe.
Explore Nacpan-Calitang Twin Beach by Motorcycle
Take a motorcycle from the town proper and check out the unspoiled beauty of these adjacent beachs. The coconut groves and the long stretches of isolated shores make this place an incredible spot for watching the sun set.
Climbing Taraw Cliff
Looking for some morning exercise? Climbing the craggy Taraw Cliff is sure to get your adrenaline pumping. A steep trail, but worth it.
Kayaking at Small Lagoon
If you’re a water baby who wants a bit of exercise, go kayaking at Small Lagoon in Miniloc Island! The gentle waters and the caves make for great exploring, with coral in some of the shallower areas.
Spelunking at Cudugnon Cave
Located in the front of Bacuit Bay, you can wander through the hidden nooks and crannies of this cave and see its incredible rock formations, as well as take a dip in the refreshing water nearby.
Sunset Viewing at Corong-Corong Beach

Only a short distance from El Nido proper, many people await the sunset here. Try to get a view unobstructed by the limestone cliffs!
Zipline at Las Cabanas
Cross the beach to get to the next mountain—in style! Take an exhilarating trip past the air and water by ziplining your way down. There are two way or one way trips you can opt for when you’re done exploring the seaside.
Walk around the Beach
Walking at the beach of El Nido is so relaxing, as for me it’s the best stress reliever. You can also enjoy the picturesque view of the beach that’s surrounded with limestone formation.
Eat Fresh Seafood at the Beach
No matter where you go in Palawan, you’re sure to get some delicious seafood from the locals who will cook up the day’s catch. Grab some newly-caught sea urchin or grilled fish straight from the source, and for reasonable prices too.
Go snorkeling or diving
Aside from white sand beaches El Nido is also blessed with marine life ideal for snorkeling and diving. If you choose to go this route for ocean exploration, you will be greeted by colorful coral reefs and some of the rarest marine life in the world. Not to be missed!
Visit Nagkalit-Kalit Falls
After crossing some rivers, nothing beats a cool dip at the small but picturesque Nagkalit-Kalit Falls. The trail is a bit slippery, but when you see all that greenery and breathe in the fresh air, you’ll know it’s worth it.
Explore Hidden Beach
Known by this name because it’s tucked so far away that you could miss it, Hidden Beach is a strip of white sand beach between two rocks. It’s a great beach hideaway that is often a highlight of Tour C in El Nido.
Explore El Nido’s Nightlife- Pukka Bar or Coco Bar
Down to party after chilling by the water? El Nido has plenty of bars where live bands perform every night, so check out a reggae bar or ask about the full moon parties, and relax with a frosty beer.
I’ll be diving in the El Nido area next year for 3 weeks in May 2018. Pls. keep me informed of island hopping tours, kayaking, etc. Thanks, Paul
